Commercial Restoration Equipment Repair Specialist

A day in the shop

You clock in, review the incoming queue, and start triaging equipment: one hour it’s a truck‑mounted carpet cleaning unit, the next a 2–4 cylinder gas engine or a portable extractor. With testing equipment in hand and OEM troubleshooting guides and repair manuals open, you zero in on root causes, document findings, and launch the repair plan. You create the service order, prepare an estimate, and reach out to the customer by phone or email to walk them through next steps and schedule work in our scheduling software.

Between jobs, you coordinate with fellow technicians on workload, order parts from vendors, and keep the bench clean, organized, and safe.

What you’ll do Diagnose and repair all systems and components used in commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment.

Apply proper use of testing equipment, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturers’ repair manuals to confirm accurate fixes.

Evaluate and clearly communicate additional repair and service needs identified during inspection.

Meet or exceed service department quality and productivity targets.

Follow direction from supervisors and collaborate effectively with service department and store staff.

Assist other technicians and store team members whenever needed.

Use and maintain shop tools and equipment correctly and safely.

Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety practices.

Create service orders for all equipment received for repair.

Work with customers to schedule service and repair appointments; maintain appointments in scheduling software.

Communicate with customers in person, by phone, and via email.

Create bids for equipment repair and service.

Present estimates for repairs and service to customers.

Coordinate shop workload with other technicians to balance priorities.

Order parts and coordinate promptly with vendors.

Coordinate service work with other store employees to keep operations flowing.
