Position: PSYCHIATRIC CASEWORKER 2

Job Summary

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II in Las Vegas, Nevada. The position is located at Desert Willow Treatment Center (DWTC) and involves case‑management services for individuals with mental health needs, focusing on serious mental health and substance use challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Assess clients, develop and implement treatment plans, and monitor progress.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and home visits as needed.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary services, make referrals, and serve as a liaison among clients, families, and community resources.
  • Monitor follow‑up services, including medication clinics, day treatment, outpatient appointments, and housing arrangements.
  • Provide individual and family education on daily living, coping skills, employment, and other life skills.
  • Develop discharge plans and monitor transition to community settings.
  • Assist clients with court appearances and other legal matters.
  • Supervise lower level staff, interns, and students when assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a closely related field; or equivalent education combined with experience.
  • Two years of experience in a mental‑health or intellectual disabilities setting, with at least one year of professional casework for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities.
  • Or one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service.
Job Duties
  • Interview clients for psychosocial rehabilitation placement and prepare written evaluation and service/care plans.
  • Enter progress notes and advise clients of their rights and responsibilities.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to goal setting and plan modification.
  • Document client contacts, prepare reports, and complete billing and other required documentation.
  • Develop and implement discharge plans, schedule appointments, and coordinate referrals to clinicians and community resources.
  • Monitor housing agreements, supported housing services, and quality of care compliance.
  • Provide crisis intervention, including behavioral control, restraint as needed, and de‑escalation training.
  • Conduct training classes and skill instruction for clients.
  • Attend staff meetings, committees, task forces, and in‑service training.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention, client progress documentation, case‑management practices, and client rights.
  • General knowledge of psychotropic medications, behavior modification techniques, and related laws.
  • Ability to make appropriate referrals, develop service contracts, maintain cooperative relationships, and monitor follow‑up services.
