Job Overview
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II to work at Desert Willow Treatment Center (DWTC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The role involves case management, crisis intervention, and coordination of services for individuals with serious mental health and substance use challenges.
Responsibilities- Assess clients, interview family members, and gather information from community contacts to determine needs and develop treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to set client goals, develop and modify service/care coordination plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Document progress notes, maintain case records, and produce required reports and billing forms.
- Provide ongoing individual and family education on daily living, coping skills, employment, and client rights.
- Conduct crisis intervention, including behavioral control, restraint protocols, and coordination with emergency services.
- Coordinate transportation, appointments, and court assistance for clients.
- Develop and monitor discharge plans, housing contracts, and supported housing arrangements.
- Conduct classes, skill trainings, and develop curriculum to support client skill development.
- Supervise and evaluate lower‑level staff, interns, and university students as assigned.
- Attend staff, committee, task force, and in‑service training sessions to enhance knowledge and provide input on client issues.
- Identify and refer clients to community resources, health care providers, and vocational services.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards for documentation and service delivery.
- Perform related duties as assigned under general supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a closely related human services field.
- Two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, with at least one year of professional casework experience in psychosocial rehabilitation for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; or one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, case management practices, and laws governing client abuse and neglect.
- Understanding of psychotropic medications, common side effects, and behavior modification techniques.
- Ability to develop contracts, monitor services, and maintain cooperative relationships with clients and community resource providers.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
