Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Position Summary

Bamboo Sunrise is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) within our Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP).

DSPs provide direct supervision, mentoring, transportation, and daily support to youth in foster care. Staff work closely with treatment teams to provide a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment that promotes healing, growth, and permanency.

No prior experience is required. We will train the right candidates.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth and helping them develop the skills needed for long‑term success.

Compensation

Starting Rate: $18.00 per hour

Available Shifts

Bamboo Sunrise operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Weekend Shifts

Available based on program needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth in care.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic living environment.
  • Implement trauma-informed care and behavior management strategies.
  • Build positive relationships with youth through mentoring and coaching.
  • Teach independent living and daily living skills.
  • Facilitate recreational, educational, and community activities.
  • Transport youth to school, appointments, family visits, work, and community activities.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, behaviors, and interventions accurately and timely.
  • Support treatment plan goals and clinical recommendations.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral crises and emergency situations.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings.
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Nevada driver's license.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Experience in foster care, residential treatment, behavioral health, education, juvenile justice, or social services.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavior management techniques.
  • Experience working with at‑risk or high‑needs youth.

Experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective during crises.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Professional documentation and report‑writing abilities.

  • Commitment to youth safety, well‑being, and positive outcomes.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout residential homes and community settings.
  • Ability to transport youth safely in agency vehicles.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during crisis situations.
  • Ability to participate in approved crisis intervention techniques following required training.

Employee Referral Bonus Program

Current Bamboo Sunrise employees may be eligible for a $1,000 referral bonus for successful DSP referrals.

Bonus Payment Schedule
  • 30 Days: $250 (25%)
  • 90 Days: $250 (25%)
  • 6 Months: $500 (50%)
Referral Requirements

The referred DSP must:

  • Complete all required training within the first six months of employment.
  • Maintain at least 90% attendance during the first six months.
  • Remain employed and in good standing for six months.
  • Meet performance expectations.
