CADC​/CADC Intern – Street Outreach Counselor, Team

Vegas Stronger is seeking a compassionate, dependable Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern (CADC Intern/CADC-I) to join the City of Las Vegas Multi-Agency Outreach Resource Engagement (MORE) Team.

The MORE Team conducts street-based outreach throughout Las Vegas, connecting people experiencing unsheltered homelessness with substance use treatment, shelter, housing, healthcare, and other essential services.

This is a field-based position for someone who is comfortable meeting people where they are—including streets, encampments, flood-control tunnels, and other locations not intended for human habitation. The selected candidate will work as part of a four-person multidisciplinary outreach team and collaborate with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other community partners.

• Conduct compassionate, respectful outreach to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
• Enter streets, encampments, remote locations, and other challenging environments to engage individuals who may need assistance.
• Conduct substance use disorder screenings and biopsychosocial assessments.
• Diagnose or classify substance use disorders within the employee’s credentialed scope of practice.
• For CADC Intern candidates, perform clinical duties under required supervision and obtain all necessary reviews and countersignatures.
• Use motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practices, and person-centered engagement techniques.
• Connect individuals with substance use treatment, withdrawal management, shelter, housing assessments, healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and other community resources.
• Coordinate with MORE Team members, Metro Police, City of Las Vegas personnel, treatment providers, and community partners.
• Complete accurate, timely, and confidential assessments, case notes, referrals, and other required documentation in HMIS and/or other EHR systems.
• Assist clients with navigating barriers to treatment and supportive services.
• Participate in team briefings, case coordination, follow-up outreach, and required training.
• Follow all safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, ethical standards, and agency policies.

• Current Nevada CADC certification or active CADC Intern certification in good standing.
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment resources, and recovery support.
• Ability to work effectively with people experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health concerns, trauma, and other complex needs.
• Willingness and ability to conduct outreach in outdoor and nontraditional environments.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to reliably work Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Strong communication, documentation, judgment, and crisis-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including alongside law-enforcement personnel.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and protect confidential client information.

• Previous experience in street outreach, substance use treatment, homelessness services, crisis response, case management, or behavioral health.
• PRSS Certification
• Experience completing biopsychosocial assessments and SUD diagnoses.
• Familiarity with Las Vegas-area treatment, housing, shelter, and community resources.
• Training in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, de-escalation, or crisis intervention.
• Personal or professional familiarity with recovery-oriented systems of care.
