Software Development Engineer II, iOS, Discovery Tech - Mobile

At Zappos Tech, we're on a mission to deliver unparalleled shopping experiences to our customers. We're seeking a Software Development Engineer II (SDE2) to join our iOS Mobile team. As an SDE2 on the iOS team, you will significantly contribute to software development of the Zappos iOS app, spanning the entire customer journey from homepage to checkout, including search, ads, widgets, and recommendations.

• Play a key role in the development and maintenance of native iOS apps using Xcode, Swift, SwiftUI, Objective‑C, UIKit, Cloud Kit, Core Data, Core Animation.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to create optimal customer experiences and drive technology choices.
• Provide guidance and feedback to uphold high coding standards and practices, contributing to the growth of the engineering team.
• Address complex issues within a well‑understood technology strategy, balancing business needs with technical solutions to ensure scalability and future growth.
• Adhere to and promote best practices throughout the team.
• Engage in continuous learning and contribute to the team’s strategy and goals in an inclusive, growth‑oriented environment.

You start your day with stand‑up to sync with your team and product managers about tasks and priorities. Most of your time is spent writing code—building and testing new features, fixing issues, and improving app performance. Code reviews are part of your routine, and you regularly use AI tooling as part of your daily development tasks.

You may research new iOS frameworks or tools, write technical documentation for complex features, or collaborate closely with teammates on challenging problems. Some days focus on deep feature development; others involve mentoring or investigating production issues. The work varies but always centers on making our iOS app better for our customers.

You’ll join a tight‑knit mobile team of iOS and Android developers who take ownership of the entire customer experience in our app. The team shares knowledge across platforms and collaborates daily with product managers and backend engineers. The group values transparency, continuous learning, and initiative. You’ll have the freedom to propose solutions and experiment with new approaches to improve the Zappos customer experience.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of Apple platform development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems).
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience using generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, and a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices.
• Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences.

Salary range:

• USA, Nevada, Las Vegas –  –  USD annually
• USA, New York, New York –  –  USD annually

Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
