SAFETY AND SECURITY SUPERVISOR – PROJECT MANAGER – TRANSPORTATION

Full‑time position.

Position Summary

This role requires an individual who is a flexible and creative problem solver with superb organizational, writing, and communication skills. The Supervisor will be on‑call with rotating weekends and will maintain responsibility for vehicle safety and Quality Assurance of services with Aacres Nevada. The position provides leadership and quality assurance for services to ensure that Aacres Mission and Values are carried out consistently.

The position will manage operational issues relating to program vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant service, including driver and vehicle performance management, compliance, training, and risk management/QA aspects of residential and transportation services. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting related to drivers, safety, security and training, and for compliance with federal, state and local laws, contractual requirements, and RTC specifications.

Qualifications
  • At least 25 years of age
  • Acceptable background clearance
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass DOT physical exam and ongoing random selection drug screening
  • Ability to pass company-sponsored Defensive Driving Program
  • Completion of passenger sensitivity training
  • Physical agility necessary to assist passengers
  • One year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (highly preferred)
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License
  • No more than three moving violations or chargeable accidents within the most recent three-year period
  • Acceptable work history and three professional employment references
  • Flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings
  • Ability to lift or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive body movements to operate controls
  • Ability to work independently with minimal breaks
  • Operator of wheelchair lifts/scooters and secure equipment of passengers in accordance with ADA
  • Assist disabled passengers in boarding, riding, and alighting the vehicle safely
Education / Experience
  • College degree preferred, or a minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Two year's demonstrated ability effectively supervising at least 10–15 staff and maintaining quality services (preferred)
  • Must have or obtain all required OSHA and Transportation certificates within 12 months of accepting the position
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel a plus
Essential Duties and Functions
  • Supervise emergency kits in residential homes and transportation vehicles
  • Supervise fire extinguishers and smoke detectors for transportation and residential programs
  • Conduct emergency evacuation drills every six months at main office and transportation office
  • Oversee gas cards, vehicle maintenance and safety check, smog, insurance requirements, driver safety program, and driver alerts
  • Provide monthly safety training for drivers, program supervisors, and coordinators
  • Prepare incident reports for vehicle and employee injuries
  • Provide workers’ compensation training and ensure compliance
  • Monitor drug test reporting and recording
  • Maintain database for transportation drivers and safety meetings
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles, including GPS and electronic devices
  • Maintain vehicle keys and ensure safety and security of vehicles
  • Support and supervise drivers per Transportation Program Manager’s direction and training requirements
  • Hold employees accountable for performance and performance improvement actions
  • Ensure personnel practices comply with affirmative action guidelines
  • Monitor and maintain files for employee training requirements
  • Oversee vehicle refueling and maintenance within fuel guidelines
  • Maintain program operation within established financial goals
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and effective communication with contracting entities and team members to promote quality services and customer satisfaction
