About the roleMetro is looking for On-call/Part-time Forklift Operators – Reach Truck to serve on the Supplemental Urgent Response Group (SURG) for the Third Shift: 11:00PM – 7:30AM
. This team provides time sensitive, emergency response warehousing/logistics for our clients. This position requires team members to be on-call 24/7 for their scheduled shifts. SURG team members are committed individuals who agree to work on short notice, usually within 60 minutes of the time being notified.

What We Offer- $26.73 ($21.64/hour + $5.09 Health/Welfare Fringe-Rate)
- Monthly On-Call Retainer of $250 for stand-up reach truck drivers.
- Eligible for Discretionary Bonus
Metro is a 24 hour/7 day a week emergency response customer service organization. This position will require work on an intermittent basis, during emergency or special situations in which Metro will be required to temporarily increase its capabilities for warehousing and distribution.
You will be required to- Work a minimum of one 4-hour training shift each month.
- Participate in one randomly announced, extended training exercise each calendar year. The duration of the exercise typically lasts up to 8 hours.
- Be available on an ‘as needed’ basis in response to emergency situations. Any such occasion will require up to 8 hours in length to cover the Third Shift: 11:00PM – 7:30AM. However, you may be called to work for a period of 30 or more consecutive days.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate performance of physical inventory functions:
Operating a Lift Truck – Stand-Up Reach, ensuring that safety standards are followed. - Completing receiving/shipping functions, as requested.
- Responsible for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of tracking paperwork: records pulling, packing, shipping information, and inventory counts.
- Responsible for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area personnel.
- Informing management of area activities and significant problems.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Working knowledge of inventory receiving, processing, and storage procedures.
- Understanding of production line supply, requirements and general production operations.
- Previous lift truck operation and warehousing experience.
- Must be able to obtain Forklift Operation and Safety Certification.
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office products are required.
- Must have a cell phone and reliable means of transportation to work.
- Must be at least 18 years.
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend and kneel.
- Must occasionally push, pull, move, carry or lift up to 40 pounds.
- Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
Must have a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
