Driver Warehouse Worker - Las Vegas

The Nevada Department of Agriculture, Division of Food and Nutrition, in Las Vegas is seeking to fill a Driver Warehouse Worker 2 position. Under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, responsibilities include operating warehouse equipment and various commercial vehicles to deliver USDA Foods on scheduled monthly routes; receiving and storing freight; managing food inventory; loading and unloading transportation vehicles; delivering and picking up supplies, materials and equipment;

receiving and storing commodity foods; palletizing freight; unloading shipments manually or using forklifts or pallet jacks; inspecting freight for damage; verifying that quantities and descriptions agree with the bill of lading; and moving freight to designated areas of the warehouse for storage, including freezers. Prepare orders and load delivery vehicles for shipment to consignees in accordance with established delivery schedules.

Review orders; pull the quantity and type of stock specified; pack or palletize stock; move filled orders to the staging area; and load delivery vehicles according to the order in which goods will be delivered. Within a local, regional, or statewide area, operate various light-, medium-, and heavy-duty transportation vehicles to deliver orders and obtain appropriate documentation to verify delivery or receipt of goods.

Ensure transportation vehicles, forklifts and related equipment are maintained in proper working order through periodic visual inspections and daily pre-trip inspections of vehicles; review maintenance records; perform routine service or report service and repair requirements; and arrange for emergency repairs. Monitor warehouse stock layout and locations through visual inspections to ensure easy access, proper rotation of stock and optimal utilization of space.

Relocate stock as necessary and conduct regular inventories. Travel multiple days throughout the month for deliveries, usually involving day trips. Work 40 hours per week in a four-day workweek, with Fridays off. At times, work in extreme and inclement weather conditions, which may require chaining and unchaining semi-tractors and trailers and working in extreme heat. Some delivery routes are in very rural locations where cell service may not be available, and overnight stays are occasionally required.

Work in walk-in freezers and coolers under extremely cold conditions. Excellent attendance is required. Prior experience in a warehouse setting is preferred. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Driver Warehouse Workers receive and store freight; load transporting vehicles; deliver and pick up supplies, materials, and equipment.

One year of commercial freight delivery experience which included responsibilities for loading freight and operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Receive and store freight consisting of items such as food, office furniture, and office, maintenance, janitorial, and other supplies for use by State agencies and commodity food recipients; palletize freight; unload shipments manually or use forklifts or pallet jacks; inspect freight for damage; verify quantity and description agree with the bill of lading; and move freight to a designated area of the warehouse for storage.

Prepare orders and load the delivery vehicle in preparation for shipment to consignee in accordance with established delivery schedules; review orders, pull quantity and type of stock specified, pack or palletize stock, move filled orders to staging area, load delivery vehicle in accordance with the order in which goods will be delivered; complete data entries into computer system to track and account for inventory received or disbursed;

maintain overall inventory of warehouse and process required receiving paperwork.

Within a local, regional or statewide area, operate various light, medium and heavy duty transporting vehicles to deliver orders and/or pick up materials, supplies, and equipment; unload orders, load and secure items being picked up, and obtain appropriate documentation to verify delivery or receipt of goods.
