Job Summary New Mexico Highlands University seeks a Contingent Faculty member in Art to teach ART 1120:
Introduction to Art as a Dual Credit course at Robertson High School in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The successful candidate will provide quality instruction, maintain appropriate academic standards, evaluate student performance, and support student success in accordance with NMHU policies and curriculum requirements. This is a per-course, temporary faculty appointment for the Fall 2026 semester.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Art, Art History, Studio Art, Fine Arts, or a closely related field. Prior college-level or dual credit teaching experience. Experience teaching introductory art courses. Experience working with diverse student populations, including high school students. Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success. Preferred Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
Ability to incorporate contemporary and interdisciplinary approaches to art education. Proficiency with instructional technologies and online learning platforms. Ability to work collaboratively with university faculty, administrators, and secondary education partners. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Essential Duties Teach ART 1120:
Introduction to Art in accordance with approved course outcomes. Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and course activities. Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records. Submit grades and required reports in a timely manner. Maintain regular communication with students, high school personnel, and the NMHU Art and Music Department. Comply with university policies, procedures, and accreditation standards. Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and instruct for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively in classroom settings. Ability to use computers, instructional technology, and standard office equipment. May require occasional lifting or moving of classroom art materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
