A part-time job on-campus offers a great way for you to earn money to help pay for school as well as to get a jump start on your career track. Student employment allows you to acquire work experience, transferable job skills, self-confidence, and develop a network of professional contacts for your future career. On-campus jobs include departmental, federal/state work-study, and graduate assistantships (GA) in non-academic departments.
Keep in mind that each department makes their own hiring decisions, therefore students are not placed in a job or guaranteed a job.

Department SummaryThe position of Resident Director requires a high level of maturity and a heightened sense of responsibility for the well being of others.
Compensation includes a room and 20 hours paid at the posted hourly rate.
Job Description
Job description may include varied and moderately complex duties involving a moderate degree of responsibility and judgment. Usually requires previous training or equivalent experience. May direct or coordinate activities of other student employees. Training new hires;
Managing schedules;
Providing support to students (tutors, peer mentors, orientation leaders);
Conduct presentations;
Managing confidential information;
Maintain regular attendance; and, Perform other job duties as assigned.
The Resident Director is responsible for the management and student development operation of an area of 70-300 students. This includes working with the Director of Housing and Student Conduct and other staff to develop, implement, and evaluate a program providing an environment promoting individual growth, learning, academic success, and a sense of responsibility for self and community among residents. The Resident Director plays an important role in the supervision, daily operations and management the residence halls and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Actively get to know the residents of the residence hall and be available for those needing assistance.
- Uses discretion in communicating personal conversations with residents. Knows and makes referral to other offices on campus when appropriate.
- Will provides leadership, leadership training, and resources for residence hall government.
- Works with students and Resident Assistants to develop and implement programs that encourage learning, academic success and individual growth as well as providing social and recreational opportunities.
- Assists residents in understanding community living concepts, including respect for the rights and privacy of all members of the community.
- Clarifies and interprets University and residence hall policy to residents, documenting both inappropriate behavior as well as violations of those policies.
- Works with the Director of Housing and Student Conduct to implement disciplinary sanctions when necessary.
- Maintains accurate records (e.g. incident reports, duty schedules, rosters, occupancy, etc.)
- Coordinates resident check-in/check-out and supervises all hall openings/closings.
- Maintains daily contact with Director of Housing and Student Conduct as well as checking mailbox in office.
- Knows emergency procedures and responds to all emergencies in the hall, notifying the Director and other staff as appropriate.
- Conducts regularly scheduled fire drills.
- Supervise monthly room and residence hall inspections and turn in to the Housing office the associated reports.
- Initiates maintenance requests as needed and follows up appropriate.
- Available to students and staff during regularly scheduled hours.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Resident Assistant selection process each term, including summer.
