The Highlands Career Services Center, located in the Felix Martinez Building, Room 230, provides assistance with your on-campus job application, cover letter, resume, interviewing strategies, as well as offer suggestions on student jobs that are related to your academic major, career interests, and skills. A part-time job on-campus offers a great way for you to earn money to help pay for school as well as to get a jump start on your career track. Student employment allows you to acquire work experience, transferable job skills, self-confidence, and develop a network of professional contacts for your future career. On-campus jobs include departmental, federal/state work‑study, and graduate assistantships (GA) in non‑academic departments.
Keep in mind that each department makes their own hiring decisions, therefore students are not placed in a job or guaranteed a job.

Job Description
Job description may include technical and specialized duties requiring a high skill level in oral and written communications, critical thinking, initiative, and independent work requiring knowledge of theory, practices and procedures of the assigned area. Analyzing data;
Preparing records;
Writing reports;
Creating videos;
Managing confidential information;
Maintain regular attendance; and Perform other job duties as assigned.
Lead Peer Mentors, in addition to regular Peer Mentor duties, are responsible for overseeing a team of Peer Mentors.
- Serve as an energetic and enthusiastic mentor to help students succeed at NMHU ;
- Develop and maintain relationships with and provide assistance and support for students (focus on a smooth transition, acclimation, and a sense of belonging);
- Serve as a resource for students;
- Attend assigned sections of courses and take class notes;
- Plan and facilitate activities with students;
- Attend training workshops and meetings;
- Participate in and lead office committees and work collaboratively to build PM / Hacienda / LC teams;
- Hold office/tutoring/mentoring hours to meet with students;
- Organize and facilitate Hacienda events;
- Organize and facilitate study groups;
- Meet and collaborate with faculty and advisers;
- Establish communication channels with students;
- Serve as a positive role model socially, academically, and behaviorally;
- Maintain records as assigned;
- Maintain regular attendance;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Lead Peer Mentor additional duties:
- Develop, update, and ensure implementation of a communication plan for all Peer Mentors to use in the spring semester;
- Develop and schedule activity events, collaborate with other offices, and update a calendar of events;
