A part-time job on-campus offers a great way for you to earn money to help pay for school as well as to get a jump start on your career track. Student employment allows you to acquire work experience, transferable job skills, self-confidence, and develop a network of professional contacts for your future career. On-campus jobs include departmental, federal/state work-study, and graduate assistantships (GA) in non-academic departments.

Keep in mind that each department makes their own hiring decisions, therefore students are not placed in a job or guaranteed a job.

The purpose of the NMHU LANL Scholars Ambassador Program is to develop a sense of community and belonging among our scholars, provide student success and career-readiness resources, and create opportunities for our scholars to support one another in pursuit of their academic, personal and professional goals.
The LANL Foundation believes that our LANL Scholars will benefit from affiliation with a group of fellow scholars from Northern New Mexico in pursuit of higher education. LANL Scholars share a commitment to academic achievement, leadership and service. The NMHU LANL Scholars Ambassador Program will reflect and build upon these shared values while supporting our scholars to successfully transition to college life, maintain good academic standing, graduate with their desired degree or certificate in a timely manner, and transition to meaningful employment or continue on the path of higher education.

• Work approximately 15 hours per week as a “LANL Scholars Ambassador” to Conduct and document regular outreach to fellow LANL Scholars
• Direct scholars to campus resources
• Promote and support students applying for LANL Foundation scholarships
• Connect students to other LANL Scholars pursuing similar degrees
• Plan workshops, social events, and service opportunities for LANL Scholars
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities
• Assist with report at the end of each semester including summary of events, student attendance, student academic standing, assessment of program design and delivery, and recommendations for improvement
• Report directly to Benito Pacheco, Senior Director of Strategic Enrollment Management.
• Compensation:
  Up to $15/hour depending on experience

Student registered for a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall, 2021 semester. Must maintain satisfactory academic standing.
