This is a Department of Defense project to repair a roof. We will only be asking for the services to draw and specify the Lightning Protection System. The engineer must have a NM stamp. The roof repair portion of the project will be covered by a separate engineer that specializes in roofing. The service requested is only the drawings and specifications to address the LPS.

11. What is the extent needed for roof design? SOO states that the work is to match existing. Roof design is limited. However, the design is more-so for the LPS which is going to need to be stamped by a NM engineer as well as recertified by a 3rd party. Please review UFC 3-575-01 Lightning and Static Electricity Protection Systems as well as AFMAN 32-1065 for details.
In this scope we will repair a portion of the roof, replace a portion of the insulation and bring the LPS system back to fully operational. The service requested is only the drawings and specifications to address the LPS.
- Engineer must have a NM stamp.
- Experience with Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) design and related standards (UFC 3-575-01, AFMAN 32-1065).
- Ability to produce drawings and specifications to address the LPS; LPS design to be stamped by a NM engineer and recertified by a third party.
- Coordination with roofing engineer for the non-LPS roof work (roofing portion handled by a separate engineer).
