$107,584 - $172,135 annually

OverviewThe New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six divisions, including hospital-level inpatient psychiatric care for civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month.
There are over 600 employees across all divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.
The Assistant Director of Nursing ensures all residents receive high quality care and treatment. The position assists in hiring and training nursing and CNA staff and provides ongoing supervision and support. It ensures CMS and Joint Commission standards are met or exceeded, makes regular rounds to guarantee proper care, supports quality assurance/performance improvement, and participates in meetings and committees for Meadows and across NMBHI.
Howdoes it get done?
- Supervise Nurses and CNAs.
- Participate in morning meetings to provide leadership and guidance for any issues that arise.
- Round on the units and interact with residents and staff.
- Participate in care planning and monitoring.
- Participate in CMS and Joint Commission surveys—help complete any plans of correction and ongoing monitoring as necessary.
- Recruit and interview employees.
This job provides support for all residents at Meadows long-term care facility.
Ideal Candidate- Experience working in Skilled/Long-term care facilities.
- Experience supervising nurses and CNAs.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with CMS and Joint Commission surveys.
- Strong leadership skills to provide guidance and support for large teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and identify needs independently and in coordination with the leadership team.
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico, and two (2) years of management experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must obtain a defensive driving certificate.

Office-like setting with some time spent interacting with residents. May be exposed to residents with dementia or other diagnoses that may lead to unpredictable behavior.
