The New Mexico Department of Health works in many ways to promote, preserve and protect our health. The ITSD supports many programs within DOH that provide some of the most requested and important services we provide to our customers.
Why does the job exist?The purpose of this position within the ADSB team in the Information Technology Services Division will be to serve as the IT System Administrator for the New Mexico Department of Health.
How does it get done?- Provide support and assist various Clinical applications such as EHRs for the New Mexico Department of Health
- Maintenance, Enhancement and Support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems - Point Click Care and AVATAR
- Maintenance, Enhancement and Support of peripheral Clinical systems such as Pharmacy systems, medicine dispensing systems, etc.
- Development of Forms and Reports within the EHR products
This position supports all Clinical and Administrative personnel at the NMDOH Facilities/Hospitals including Physicians, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, etc. In addition to the hospital administrators, medical records and billing staff.
Ideal Candidate- Experience configuring and customizing Point Click Care and Avatar Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Experience performing system administration tasks related to the EHR and peripheral clinical systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL and query development.
- Experience writing Crystal Reports and SSRS/SQL Reporting Services.
- Strong analytical, organizational and information technology skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with customers.
- Flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions- Work is performed in an office setting.
- Verbal and written communication with the users of the systems at the facilities.
- Exposure to visual/video display terminals (VDT).
- Extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
