A part-time job on-campus offers a great way for you to earn money to help pay for school as well as to get a jump start on your career track. Student employment allows you to acquire work experience, transferable job skills, self-confidence, and develop a network of professional contacts for your future career. On-campus jobs include departmental, federal/state work-study, and graduate assistantships (GA) in non-academic departments.
Keep in mind that each department makes their own hiring decisions, therefore students are not placed in a job or guaranteed a job.
The Technician Assistant Aide’s role is to provide end-user support in a professional manner, with the highest regard for customer service. The Technician Assistant Aide will be cross-trained in multiple areas of the department and assigned according to department needs. Job may require evening and weekend shift work.
GeneralJob Description
Job descriptions may include varied and complex duties involving a high degree of responsibility and judgment. May supervise or regularly lead activities of other student employees. Usually requires considerable training or equivalent experience in a specialized or technical field. Skills and/or Duties:

- Utilizing 2nd language proficiency
- Maintain regular attendance
- Perform other job duties as assigned
- End User Support – provides end-user support of NMHU technology equipment including technical and functional use of equipment and software, provides communications and updates both during and through work order closure.
- Technical support – provides hardware and software support including installation, operation, monitoring, crewing, maintenance, problem analysis, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and documentation.
- Administrative Duties – attends meetings, creates and updates documentation, departmental and team processes, updates functional databases, and updates and maintains calendars and schedules as required.
- Working with the ITS Service Management System – uses, updates, and maintains work orders in the IT Service Management System in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Handles confidential information with discretion.
- Ongoing Professional Development – attends institutional and departmental training, attends departmental cross-training, attends product demos, and reads professional journals to keep informed of technology enhancements.
- Provides technology support at Help Desk, AV Support, and other areas of the department.
- Develops training material, and provides training to end-users.
- Crews classes and meetings hosted on Zoom.
- Assists with routing calls for the University Switchboard.
- Assists with lab coverage in the Purple Pub computer lab.
- Provides Level 1 & 2 technical support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- College student at NMHU enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours
