DOH and NMBHI are proud to offer a medically assisted withdrawal management program and a residential treatment program for Northern New Mexico. This program will provide medical and clinical assistance to address barriers and improve the overall quality of life for our clients that struggle with substance abuse and addiction. We will provide a safe and effective program that focuses on the client's needs in preparation for a successful discharge to a lower level of care.
The residential team will consist of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants (EMTs, Medical Assistants, CPSW preferred), and a Clinical Team of counselors.
$26.57 - $39.86 Hourly
$55,273 - $82,909 Annually

Job OverviewThis Registered Nurse position will provide direct patient care during substance abuse withdrawal management. The RN works closely with the Nurse Practitioner and Patient Care Assistants to ensure all needs of clients and the program are met daily. The RN maintains the team pace and ensures the daily schedule is adhered to. The RN is the point of contact for the leadership team to address crises, behaviors, emergencies, etc.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Withdrawal Assessments
- Conduct Blood Glucose Testing, Breathalyzer Testing, Blood Draws
- Document Treatment Plans and Discharge Plans
- Perform De-escalation
- Conduct Quality Control Testing & Documentation
- Maintain effective communication
Through the vision of NM DOH and NMBHI, the program aims to standardize services alongside other state substance abuse programs to serve all New Mexicans who struggle with substance abuse.

- Demonstrates attention to detail when handling and distributing controlled substances per treatment guidelines.
- Seeks help proactively before it affects workflow.
- Willing to ask questions to clarify processes and policies, especially when barriers arise.
- Displays strong leadership abilities to ensure the team meets daily objectives.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, eligibility for such licensure, or a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico, or a Graduate Nurse with a permit-to-practice.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Defensive Driving Certificate
- Safety sensitive position: subject to pre‑employment and random drug testing, nationwide criminal background checks, conditional upon results.
- Criminal records background check: must successfully complete post‑offer pre‑employment background check; conditional upon results.
- Must complete HIPAA training.
Work performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminals (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
