We are currently recruiting for the position of Assistant Store Manager - Save Mart - 15240 S.

The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) works in tandem with the Store Manager to direct and lead all aspects of day-to-day store operations. The ASM is responsible for overall direction and leadership of store operations in collaboration with the Store Manager and makes final decisions in the Store Manager’s absence. The ASM manages store conditions, product quality, and store inventory at all times, including when the Store Manager is present.
The ASM leads front-end and center-store operations, assigns work, trains and coaches team members, and aims to meet or exceed company service levels.
- Lead front-end and center-store operations; direct team members, assign duties, conduct time management training, and serve as final decision maker in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Oversee and resolve inventory issues with vendors and warehouses; audit product quality and date integrity; address out-of-stocks as needed.
- Supervise, coach and develop team members; conduct performance reviews and participate in advancement and disciplinary decisions.
- Manage the in-store training program; develop content and provide coaching to improve performance and store operations.
- Provide ongoing development opportunities for team members and support their advancement toward store management.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring processes, conduct interviews, and oversee training; lead the recruitment process as applicable.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to manage a team of sales-oriented associates in Front-End and Center Store areas.
- Promote effective two-way communication with customers and store team members; develop programs to drive improvement and high morale.
- Direct and support the execution of store-level business strategy and customer-focused initiatives.
- Support achievement of store-wide sales goals; monitor sales and profitability data and recommend actions to control expenses and maximize profits.
- Oversee product recalls, store cleanliness, maintenance, and serve as the point of contact during regulatory inspections (e.g., Health Department, OSHA).
- Ensure compliance with company policies on sanitation, safety, security, and applicable laws; implement action plans to maintain compliance.

- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent leadership and team-building skills; strong communication (written and verbal); interpersonal, customer service, coaching/mentoring, and training abilities; decision making, delegation, and negotiation; strong organization and financial management skills; basic understanding of labor contracts; knowledge of store operations and financials, hazardous materials and food safety rules, employment law, union contractual language, interviewing techniques, and hiring practices.
- Education:
Four-year college degree or equivalent knowledge (e.g., RMCP), specialized retail training, or additional grocery retail experience is a plus. - Experience:
Minimum of two years of management/leadership experience. - Physical:
Basic office environment; ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, reach, pull and lift objects.
