Position Summary
The Greater Latrobe School District is seeking a knowledgeable and student-centered FBLA Advisor to lead the high school's Future Business Leaders of America chapter. The advisor will support student development in business, leadership, and career readiness by facilitating competitive events, leadership activities, and community engagement opportunities. The successful candidate will guide students in developing professional skills while representing the district at regional, state, and national FBLA events.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Organize, supervise, and facilitate regular FBLA meetings in alignment with school policies and FBLA guidelines.
- Advise and support student officers in planning chapter activities, setting goals, and managing club operations.
- Prepare and mentor students for participation in FBLA competitive events at the regional, state, and national levels.
- Coordinate student participation in conferences, leadership workshops, and competitions, including logistics such as registration, transportation, and supervision.
- Integrate career readiness, business knowledge, and leadership development into club activities.
- Promote FBLA within the school to increase student involvement and awareness of business-related opportunities.
- Ensure all club activities comply with district policies, including student supervision, safety procedures, and required clearances.
- Maintain accurate records of meetings, membership, competition participation, and student achievements.
- Oversee fundraising activities in accordance with district policies and applicable regulations.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, administration, and relevant external organizations regarding club activities and expectations.
- Collaborate with business education staff and community partners to enhance student learning opportunities.
- Perform additional duties related to the successful operation of the club as assigned by the building principal.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage student-driven initiatives and events.
- Knowledge of business concepts, career readiness skills, and/or willingness to support competitive event preparation.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and community partners.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to supervise students in both school-based and off-campus settings.
- Commitment to student leadership development and career preparation.
- Familiarity with FBLA programming or willingness to learn and engage with state and national organizations.
