Position Summary
The Greater Latrobe School District is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Key Club Advisor to lead a high school service organization affiliated with Key Club International and Kiwanis. The advisor will support student-led service initiatives, promote leadership development, and encourage a commitment to community engagement. The successful candidate will collaborate with the local Kiwanis Club, school staff, and community partners to provide meaningful service opportunities and experiences for students.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Organize, supervise, and facilitate regular Key Club meetings in alignment with school policies and Key Club International guidelines.
- Guide students in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of service projects that address school and community needs.
- Support the development of student leadership by advising club officers and promoting effective organizational practices.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the sponsoring Kiwanis Club, including coordinating participation in joint meetings and events.
- Ensure all club activities comply with district policies, including student supervision, safety procedures, and required clearances.
- Coordinate logistics for service events, including transportation, facilities, and communication with community organizations.
- Promote the Key Club within the school to increase student participation and engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of meetings, service hours, student participation, and club activities.
- Oversee fundraising efforts in accordance with district policies and applicable regulations.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, administration, and Kiwanis representatives regarding club activities and expectations.
- Encourage student reflection and recognition of service contributions, including participation in district or international Key Club events where appropriate.
- Perform additional duties related to the successful operation of the club as assigned by the building principal.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to foster student leadership and manage student-driven initiatives.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to supervise students in both school-based and off-campus activities.
- Commitment to service learning, civic engagement, and student development.
- Familiarity with Key Club/Kiwanis programming or willingness to learn and engage with sponsoring organizations.
