Description

Position Title: Accounting & Finance Manager

Reports To: Controller

Supervises: Accounting Assistant

Primary Function: Provide support in all activities of the Business Office, including but not limited to, Accounting and Student Account functions.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in accounting. CPA certification preferred. Experience with Ellucian Colleague a plus.

Essential Duties:

  • Preparation of the Archabbey and Seminary budget and forecast.
  • Update Archabbey endowment accounts and prepare necessary journal entries to reflect gains or losses on investment.
  • Financial administration of grants, including budgeting, tracking expenditures, preparing financial reports, reconciliation activities and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Support Archabbey financial operations.
  • Assist with payroll processing.
  • Month-end reconciliations to include College and Archabbey bank and investment statements and other reconciliations as assigned.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial statements for the College and Seminary.
  • Participate in the monthly account analysis to ensure accurate recording of general ledger transactions; tracking actual to budget spend; and identifying material account variances.
  • Assist with information gathering for external auditors.
  • Work with the Vice President of Finance, Assistant Vice President of Finance and Director of Financial Operations, to help facilitate the preparation of all tax and financial reporting activities.

Other Duties:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and policies.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Utilize independent judgement while staying in compliance with GAAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and/or confidential documents and information.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge, including accounting software and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance, Assistant Vice President of Finance, or Director of Financial Operations.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle interruptions.
  • Perform occasional overtime due to deadlines.
