Aircraft Mechanic

Located:
Latrobe, PA

Pay: $40's+/hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

Support maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and return-to-service activities on turbine-powered helicopters within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station. This hands-on role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and teamwork while maintaining a variety of rotary-wing aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer manuals, and company procedures.
  • Conduct inspections, troubleshoot discrepancies, and complete repairs on airframe, powerplant, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Remove, install, rig, adjust, and test aircraft components and assemblies to ensure proper operation and airworthiness.
  • Perform aircraft modifications, upgrades, phase inspections, and component replacements.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and technical publications.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, and return-to-service documentation accurately and in compliance with FAA requirements.
  • Perform operational and functional checks following maintenance actions.
  • Support aircraft disassembly, reassembly, preservation, and delivery activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while properly using and caring for tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, avionics, sheet metal, and quality teams to meet operational and customer requirements.
  • Provide off-site maintenance support as needed and represent the organization professionally.
  • Identify root causes of mechanical issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of aircraft maintenance experience; 5–10 years preferred.
  • Experience performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and return-to-service activities on turbine-powered aircraft.
  • Strong knowledge of airframe, powerplant, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical publications.
  • Experience working within FAA-regulated maintenance environments, preferably Part 145.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with scheduled, unscheduled, heavy, depot, and phase maintenance activities.
  • Rotary-wing experience preferred; fixed-wing or military aviation experience will also be considered.
  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred (not required)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Military helicopter maintenance experience.
  • Previous Part 145 Repair Station or corporate aviation maintenance experience.
  • Experience supporting platforms such as:
    • Sikorsky S-76, S-92, S-61
    • UH-1, UH-60, UH-72, HH-60
    • AW109, AW119, AW139, AW609
    • Bell 407, 427, 429
    • Eurocopter and similar rotary-wing aircraft
  • Exposure to heavy maintenance, depot-level maintenance, phase inspections, and structural repairs.
  • Familiarity with repair station documentation, quality systems, and operational processes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
