A&P Mechanic (Aviation Maintenance Technician – Rotary-Wing)

This role provides hands-on maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and return-to-service support for a variety of helicopter platforms within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station. You will use your FAA A&P certification and strong technical expertise to ensure aircraft are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and manufacturer requirements while working closely with a collaborative maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on helicopters in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer maintenance manuals.
  • Conduct detailed inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and return-to-service activities on aircraft and aircraft systems.
  • Remove, install, rig, and adjust aircraft components and assemblies to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and repair airframe, powerplant, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and mechanical systems on turbine-powered aircraft.
  • Perform aircraft modifications, upgrades, and component replacements as required by maintenance plans or customer requests.
  • Interpret and apply information from maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical publications.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and return-to-service documentation in compliance with FAA and company requirements.
  • Perform operational and functional checks following maintenance actions to verify system performance and airworthiness.
  • Support aircraft disassembly, reassembly, preservation, and delivery activities for various helicopter platforms.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the hangar and on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, avionics, sheet metal, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and meet operational schedules.
  • Assist other departments as needed in a team-oriented Part 145 environment.
  • Occasionally travel to perform off-site maintenance support when required.

Essential Skills

  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • At least 4+ years of aircraft maintenance experience; 5–10 years preferred.
  • Hands-on experience performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and return-to-service activities on turbine-powered aircraft.
  • Strong working knowledge of airframe, powerplant, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical publications.
  • Experience working in compliance with FAA regulations and maintenance documentation requirements within a repair or maintenance environment.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively in a team-oriented maintenance environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all maintenance activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Military helicopter maintenance experience combined with a current FAA A&P certificate is highly valued.
  • Experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station or corporate aircraft maintenance environment is preferred.
  • Experience in depot, phase, or heavy maintenance on rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Familiarity with turbine-powered helicopter models such as S-76, S-92, S-61, UH-1, UH-60, UH-72, HH-60, AW139, AW109, AW119, AW609, Bell 429, Bell 427, Bell 407, and similar platforms.
  • Experience working on various civilian helicopter models from manufacturers such as AW, Sikorsky, Bell, and Eurocopter.
  • Demonstrated ability to support disassembly, preservation, and reassembly of aircraft for delivery or storage.
  • Comfort using standard and specialized maintenance tools, equipment, and test devices in a hangar environment.
