Role Description

The Long Term Substitute Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in New Castle County, DE. This role involves delivering classroom instruction, following established curriculum guidelines, and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, supporting diverse learning needs, and ensuring continuity of instruction during the regular teacher’s absence. The Long Term Substitute Teacher will collaborate with school staff, communicate with administrators and families as needed, and complete required documentation and reporting.

The role may also involve participating in school activities, professional development sessions, and adapting teaching methods to meet district standards and student goals.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Teaching and Education, with the ability to manage classrooms and support diverse learners.
  • Strong Lesson Planning skills, including the ability to implement and adapt existing plans to meet student and curriculum needs.
  • Effective Communication abilities, including clear instruction, active listening, and professional interaction with students, staff, and families.
  • Experience in Training or mentoring learners, with a focus on building skills, knowledge, and confidence.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous classroom or educational experience, such as substitute teaching, tutoring, or instructional support, is beneficial.
  • Ability to comply with school and district policies, including background checks and any state-specific certification requirements.
  • Reliable attendance, adaptability, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
