Job Summary:
The Safety Manager will work with the safety team to oversee all aspects of workplace safety programs by developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training initiatives that promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Conducts jobsite inspections and audits to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and documents findings.
- Establishes annual safety goals and objectives based on key performance metrics and tracks results against industry standards.
- Facilitates biweekly safety committee meetings.
- Develops and implements inspection policies, procedures, and routine inspection schedules.
- Maintains health and safety procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and alignment with organizational risk exposures.
- Develop and coordinates training programs covering emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Monitors, evaluates, and enforces OSHA compliance in field operations.
- Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained and readily accessible.
- Tracks toolbox talks, job safety analyses (JSAs), training records, and related safety documentation.
- Prepares job startup safety documentation and project-specific safety requirements.
- Supervises safety support personnel.
- Manages the purchase of safety equipment and supplies and tracks associated costs.
- Serves as the primary contact for OSHA inspections and documentation requests.
- Leads investigations involving injuries, incidents, and near misses.
- Develops and distributes lessons learned from incidents and near misses.
- Coordinates company-wide safety stand-downs and awareness initiatives.
- Assists with the medical management and return-to-work process for injured employees.
- Manages substance testing and compliance programs as required by project or client specifications.
- Participates in risk management, loss control, and safety improvement initiatives.
- Implement corrective actions and recommendations resulting from incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Provides periodic safety performance reports to management.
- Site/civil construction experience preferred with knowledge of grading and excavation.
- Leadership experience preferred.
