Position
Diesel Mechanic at WM.
OverviewWork in a safe, stable environment with dependable hours. The role supports WM’s commitment to employee growth and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles to protect employees and the public.
- Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
- Assist senior mechanics in completing project work.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and physical exam.
Required to exert physical effort including frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constant standing, walking, and grasping; occasional sitting and balancing. Exposed to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, and toxic chemicals, and to environmental conditions including dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, heat, and humidity in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Work Schedule and LocationMonday through Friday; start time 11:00 AM; no weekend work. Primary location: maintenance shop at the Laurel, DE hauling site.
