Draftsmen must also possess strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and accurately.
Drafter Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare detailed drawings of architectural and engineering designs from sketches and specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to incorporate design requirements into drawings.
- Review and revise drawings to meet project specifications and standards.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify drawings.
- Ensure that drawings are accurate, detailed, and contain all necessary information for construction or manufacturing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, industry standards, and materials.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during the construction or manufacturing process.
- Manage documentation and filing systems for drawings and project records.
- Conduct site visits to gather data and verify design specifications are being met.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Solid Works.
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering principles.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and industry standards.
- Previous experience in a similar role or industry.
- Associate's degree or certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Strong mathematical and technical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
