Senior SQL Database Administrator Position Location :
Government site in Laurel, MD Description :
We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administer to augment an existing team providing Life Cycle Sustainment (LCS) activities for commercial and custom-developed education, learning, and training applications. The role requires a self-motivated individual that is comfortable working in a team environment. This position will require working on a fast-paced team and a willingness to take on challenges. Primary Responsibilities :
* Perform database patching and vulnerability remediation in alignment with IAVA requirements, including compliance reporting across enterprise database systems.
* Maintain and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments (various versions) across on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures.
* Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational support for database systems, including performance tuning, query optimization, and issue resolution.
* Execute database patching, upgrades, backups, restores, and routine maintenance to ensure data integrity, availability, and system reliability.
* Implement and manage database security, including user access controls, roles, permissions, and encryption standards.
* Utilize T-SQL and Power Shell scripting for automation of database administration, monitoring, and reporting tasks.
* Leverage AWS services, including RDS, EC2, Lambda, and Cloud Formation, to deploy, manage, and optimize cloud-hosted database solutions.
* Support infrastructure as code initiatives using Ansible and Terraform for database provisioning, configuration management, and automation.
* Develop and maintain database automation scripts and monitoring tools to streamline operations and improve performance and uptime. Qualifications :
* Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
* A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and ten (10) years of experience as a DBA. Fourteen (14) years of experience as a DBA may be substituted in lieu of a degree
* Proficiency in managing SQL Server Databases
* Must be able to work during core hours of M-F 10am-2pm. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
* DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I Desired Experience :
* Experience with Power Shell scripting language
* Experience in SharePoint migrations
* Ability to clearly communicate ambiguous or highly complex concepts to all audiences Required Clearance :
* Active TSSCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $160k-$175k
