About
The Role The Data Warehouse Platforms Engineering Shared Services & Software Development (DWSV) team is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join a large, complex product development environment. This role focuses on supporting all aspects of agile software design and development for products deployed across large-scale compute clusters. Responsibilities include designing and building new capabilities, conducting testing, optimizing performance, and supporting ongoing operations and sustainment.
As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer, you will operate with a high degree of independence across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
* Design and implement scalable solutions, including integration and extension of COTS and GOTS products
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues while optimizing system performance
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
* Contribute to project planning by defining tasks, timelines, and technical approaches
* Develop and execute test cases, create SOPs, and maintain technical documentation
* Review system designs for accuracy, completeness, and scalability#MDFSP Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g., Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering).
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
* At least 6 years of experience developing in high-level languages such as Java, C, or C++.
* At least 5 years of experience working in UNIX/Linux (Red Hat-based) environments.
* At least 3 years of experience in software integration and testing, including test plan and script development.
* An active TS/SCI with Poly is required.
Requirements:
* Strong Java development experience, including distributed systems, networking, and multithreading
* Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Puppet
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring
* Experience working in Agile environments with modern source control practices
* Strong Linux fundamentals and proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl)
* Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes)
* Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
* Hadoop or Cloud Developer certification required
* Willingness to participate in a rotating Tier III on-call schedule
* Ability to support surge requirements during high-priority situations
* Position is primarily onsite at the customer location; telework is limited and situational
Preferred Skills
* Experience with Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, and Ni Fi
* Familiarity with Mongo
DB and messaging systems (e.g., Active
MQ)
* Experience with Spring Framework, Python, and Bash scripting
* Knowledge of security and compliance best practices
* Experience with AWS, hybrid cloud environments, and related cloud technologies
Required Certification (one of the following):
* AWS Certified Developer - Associate
* AWS Dev Ops Engineer - Professional
* Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Possession of a Cloud certification is required and will be verified as part of the interview or offer process.
