The City of Laurel, Mississippi will be giving a Civil Service Examination for the position of Entry‑Level Police Officer on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Interested persons must complete an application and sign up before Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. to participate in the testing process.
Minimum Requirements- At least 21 years of age
- Valid MS driver's license
- High School diploma or GED
- U. S. Citizen and registered voter in the county where you reside
- Able to pass a background check
- Able to pass Entry‑Level Police Officer Civil Service Examination
- Able to attend and successfully complete MS Law Enforcement Officer Training Academy
- Comprehensive Health Insurance and Life Insurance (premium paid by the City of Laurel)
- Public Employee of MS Retirement Plan (PERS)
- Short and Long‑term Disability available
- Optional dental/vision insurance
- Education stipend $25/month for Associate's Degree; $50/month for Bachelor's Degree
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Valid MS driver's license
- High School diploma or GED
- Voter Registration Card
- DD‑214 (if applicable)
Beginning Salary: $53,554.44 annually, plus benefits. Hourly Rate: $23.95.
