Job DescriptionThe Laurel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a full‑time position of Speech Language Pathologist, beginning the 2026‑2027 school year.
Salary Range: $43,675.00‑$90,205.00 (Salary is dependent on years of experience and educational level). This position is part of the Certified Bargaining Agreement and placement on the salary matrix will be limited to ten years of service/experience.
QualificationsQualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Current Montana Speech Pathologist License on file in the Central Office.
- Desire to continue career improvement.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
- Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
- Ensure that all activities conform to district and state guidelines.
- Conduct screening of kindergarten along with referrals in compliance with child‑find regulations following a disability referral.
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the student’s communication skills and summarize the data for presentation at the Child Study Team meeting.
- Determine, in cooperation with the Child Study Team and using data from the comprehensive assessment, eligibility and need for placement in special education services.
- Develop and participate in the IEP process.
- Provide individual students and/or groups of students with appropriate speech, aural rehabilitation, and/or language therapy to remediate communication disorders (including receptive and expressive language, articulation, voice, fluency, and hearing impairment; ages 3‑21 years).
- May provide consultation/information for the regular classroom teacher and other school personnel about speech/language.
- Assist with district‑wide preschool screening/evaluations.
- Develop and maintain appropriate records.

- Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Support the value of an education.
- Support the philosophy and vision of the school district.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
