Job DescriptionThe Laurel School District is seeking a full‑time 6‑12 Grade Band Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year.
Salary Range: $43,675.00–$69,200.00 (dependent on experience and educational level). This position is part of the Certified Bargaining Agreement and placement on the salary matrix will be limited to ten years of service/experience.
Qualifications- BA/BS Degree in Education.
- Valid Montana Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s).
- Ability to write and read reports and effectively communicate in written and oral form.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to inquiries from students, parents, staff, and community.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively manage time and responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
- Plans and develops a course of study suitable for a particular grade level following district and state requirements.
- Provides individual and group instruction and learning activities designed to teach skills required for specific grade levels.
- Develops and presents specific lesson plans using a variety of means, such as lectures, projects, group discussions, exhibits, field trips, audio‑visual and library resources, computers, and the Internet.
- Prepares, administers, monitors, corrects, and grades in‑school and homework assignments and tests.
- Maintains classroom behavior standards and utilizes established discipline policies to foster a consistent and productive learning environment.
- Evaluates student progress, participates in parent conferences and additional meetings as required.
- Conducts standardized tests in accordance with district policies and law.
- Maintains accurate student progress and attendance records.
- Responds appropriately if evidence of learning disabilities or social development issues appears, coordinating consultation, intervention, and parent contact as required.
- Recommends promotion, graduation, and placement of students to appropriate classroom situations for the ensuing year.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, district personnel, and school board members.
- Collaborates with other educators and administrators regarding instructional needs and new technologies.
- Serves on district committees, task forces, and IEP meetings to assist with curriculum development and student assessment.
- Accepts and completes other responsibilities related to the operation and progress of the school and district.
- Reports suspected child abuse cases according to state law.
- Complies with board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
- Supervises classroom aides and volunteers, providing instructional leadership and oversight.
