Job Description

The Laurel School District is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Security position(s). This is a Level III position, 260 days a year, 4 hours a day, with a beginning wage of $16.75 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
  • Valid Montana Driver’s license
  • Ability to work outside during inclement weather
  • Ability to recognize potential hazards that inhibit persons or property.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to self-motivate and be self-directed.
Essential Functions
  • Works in varying capacities in accordance with assigned roles.
  • Secures school district buildings and facilities as directed.
  • Maintain and provide the Superintendent with a log of security checks.
  • Maintain and provide the Superintendent with reports of any and all incidents.
  • Must be able to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Makes recommendations to correct security issues once identified and contacts the appropriate school personnel.
  • Prevents unauthorized visitors from entering school buildings and/or loitering on school property.
  • Maintains liaison with police, fire or other municipal departments to ensure maximum use of their services to provide adequate safety and security.
  • May assist in handling emergency situations until the proper authorities can arrive to assess the situation.
  • Report large equipment malfunctions and repair needs to immediate supervisor.
  • Adheres to all rules and regulations as established in the district safety manual.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively manage time and responsibilities.

Knowledge of how to handle basic security tools such as flashlight, etc.
