Purpose:

To supervise the maintenance and repair of plant buildings, road & lots, general services, plumbed utilities, dust collectors, HVAC services, PIV equipment, cranes, and plant fire systems.

Must provide mechanical and electrical support based on responsibilities, including, analyzing, conception, designing, testing, installation, operations, implementation, documentation and obtaining financial approval for new or improved processes and/or equipment changes. This support shall help lower manufacturing costs and improve quality.

Essential Functions:

• Directly supervise the repair and maintenance of plant facilities and PIV equipment. This includes the repair of all wheeled equipment, buildings, roofs, doors, roadways, plumbed utilities, cranes, railroad tracks and services.
• Support the execution of general plant mechanical and electrical work orders.
• Directly supervise the repair and maintenance of cranes, elevators, HVAC systems and fire protection systems and potentially plant air compressors, instrument air compressors, air dryers
• Perform support and backup functions for other salaried department personnel as and when required.
• Support the evaluation and assessment of skilled trade new hire candidates.
• Assist with facility issues on both production lines LB1 & LB2 and throughout the whole plant.
• Coordinate maintenance of Laurinburg wastewater handling, water treatment systems and provide support to environmental programs.
• Support special projects and ongoing improvements in accordance with efforts to increase glass making performances.
• Enhance the depth and versatility of maintenance management team.
• Ensure all safety requirements are in place and maintained in a safe working environment.
• To initiate, direct, and implement 5S activities throughout the facility.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with other departments and site team members.
• Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
• Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Engineering manager.

• 3 Direct reports – Dust collection
• 2 Direct reports – General facilities maintenance
• 2 Direct reports – Vehicle maintenance (contracted out)
• 2 Direct reports – HVAC maintenance (contracted out)

Qualifications

Required:

• BS Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
• Excellent writing skills for reports, presentations, procedures, and specifications
• Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements
• Background/experience in vehicle and industrial maintenance, cranes and electrical equipment troubleshooting and repair.
• Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
• Intimate understanding of piping, steam, compressed air, various pumping, and HVAC systems

• Knowledge of facility buildings and networks
• Use good written and oral communication skills to relay information between and on all levels of production and management.
• SAP Experience
