Position: PRN RN Inpatient MSP 7p-7a

Job Overview

Position:
Nursing – Med Surg 2E (Scotland Memorial Hospital).

Location:

Laurinburg, North Carolina, United States. Status:
Part time. Shift: 3rd Shift.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current NC or Multistate RN licensure.
  • Current BLS certification and ACLS certification.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to foster a teamwork environment.
  • Proficient in computer (Electronic Medical Record) charting.
  • Effective communication with patients, customers, other departments, and staff in an articulate and professional manner.
Responsibilities
  • Stay current with best practice and advancements in edoscopy and gastroenterology nursing.
  • Ensures that proper technique and practice are used according to accepted standards.
  • Supervises other personnel in the room and directs or assists as necessary.
  • Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart and reporting changes in condition.
  • Ascertain that consent form is accurate and properly signed prior to procedure.
  • Ensures proper body alignment throughout procedure.
  • Have all supplies and equipment in room with equipment checks completed before procedure to ensure it is in working condition.
  • Cares for specimens and cultures according to policy and procedure.
  • Completes documentation and charges.
  • Accompanies patient to patient care unit and reports to nurse on patient procedure and special happenings.
  • Interviews patient prior to procedure to facilitate knowledge of patient, assesses condition and needs.
  • Prepares supplies and organizes materials with respect to special needs of patient and procedure.

    Competency:

    Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are:
    Adolescence 13‑17 yrs;
    Young Adult/Adult 18‑64 yrs;
    Adult/Middle‑Aged 65‑79 yrs;
    Geriatric 80+ yrs.
  • Performs duties as assigned by surgical services leadership.
