Department:
Scotland Memorial Hospital – Surgery Room Status:
Full time Shift: 1st (United States of America) Schedule Details/Additional Information:  Monday through Friday

Robotic Program Coordination
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for robotic‑assisted surgical programs (e.g., da Vinci systems).
  • Manage daily robotic case scheduling and ensure appropriate resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with surgeons and OR leadership to optimize robotic block utilization and case flow.
  • Assist in the development and expansion of robotic service lines.
Clinical Support & Case Coverage
  • Function as a CST in robotic‑assisted procedures, ensuring proper sterile technique and instrumentation management.
  • Prepare and maintain robotic equipment, instruments, and supplies prior to procedures.
  • Provide intraoperative troubleshooting support for robotic systems and instrumentation.
  • Ensure proper turnover and readiness of robotic systems between cases.
Education & Training
  • Assist with training and onboarding of surgical technologists, nurses, and physicians in robotic surgery.
  • Serve as a super user/resource for robotic technology and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate vendor‑led training sessions and in‑services.
  • Support competency validation for staff working with robotic systems.
Equipment & Inventory Management
  • Oversee robotic instrumentation inventory, including tracking, maintenance, and replacement.
  • Ensure proper sterilization, handling, and storage of robotic instruments.
  • Monitor instrument usage, lifespan, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Sterile Processing to ensure timely reprocessing of robotic instruments.
Quality & Performance Improvement
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as utilization, turnover time, and case efficiency.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to robotic surgery outcomes and patient safety.
  • Ensure adherence to evidence‑based practices, AORN standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist with root cause analysis for equipment or workflow issues.
Regulatory & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to policies related to robotic procedures.
  • Support program readiness for audits, inspections, and certifications.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Partner with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing leadership, and perioperative teams.
  • Act as a liaison between the OR, sterile processing, vendors, and administration.
  • Provide input into strategic planning and growth of robotic surgical services.
  • Assist with coordination of Robotic Steering Committee.
