Industry Liaison Officer
The Industry Liaison Officer develops, supports and nurtures trustful relationships between EPFL's industrial partners and the EPFL ecosystem. The incumbent is responsible for establishing and maintaining long‑term relationships with industrial accounts and EPFL, identifying needs and requirements to develop industry‑academia collaborations, acting as the privileged point of contact for all collaboration models, and working with other EPFL services and entities to promote EPFL's research competencies and innovation capabilities.
MissionIn this position, you will be part of the Industrial Liaison Office and work closely with all units of the Vice‑Presidency for Innovation and Impact (VPI). You will develop a solid knowledge of the EPFL Innovation ecosystem—including laboratories, students, and startups—to serve as a privileged contact for a portfolio of companies and a trusted point of contact for researchers. You will also contribute to the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the EPFL Open Innovation Program, creating value for participating companies while strengthening long‑term engagement with EPFL.
Mainduties and responsibilities
- Foster trustful relationships with a portfolio of companies that have a long‑term relationship with EPFL.
- Build relationships with new industry partners.
- Actively contribute to design, delivery and continuous improvement of the Open Innovation Program, ensuring a high‑value experience for participating companies and alignment with institutional objectives.
- Acquire a thorough understanding of companies and professor needs, ensuring appropriate collaboration models and services are developed and delivered, linking to other EPFL entities as required.
- Acquire strong knowledge and understanding of the EPFL ecosystem to help companies identify the right partners for their innovation projects.
- Proactively propose new potential collaboration opportunities by following EPFL research activities.
- Resolve any issues and problems the partner faces and address complaints to maintain trust and enrich existing collaborations.
- Serve as the communication link between companies, researchers, EPFL & VPI teams and services.
- Represent the VPI and organize industrial visits.
- Prepare regular reports of progress and forecasts using key account metrics.
- Support VPI and EPFL industry support programs and contribute to developing new services for VPI and EPFL.
- Scientific or engineering background (Master’s degree; Ph.D. a plus) with a specialization in Life Sciences.
- Passion for science and technology‑driven innovation.
- Three to five years of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
- Former experience in product development and/or innovation management in a technology company.
- Experience in providing solutions based on customer needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with aptitude to build relationships with professionals at all organization levels and across cultures.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to solve problems and negotiate.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Languages:
Fluency in English and French required; additional languages such as German are a plus. - Team player, autonomous, curious with strong commitment to results.
