Commissioning Engineer - Industrial Robotics

Isochronic AG is a Swiss robotics SME (founded 2020, near Lausanne) reinventing pick‑and‑place automation with patented simultaneous part transfer technology. Our iSort systems uses multiple independent pick‑heads on linear rails to boost throughput while cutting floorspace and energy use.

1–5 years experience | Full-time | International travel ~150 days/year

Own the onsite installation and commissioning of Isochronic robotic systems and ensure that each machine reaches a reliable, production‑ready state.

You will be one of Isochronic’s key technical representatives at customer sites and will work directly with customer teams, machine builders and our internal mechanical, electrical and software engineers.

• Install and commission Isochronic robotic systems at customer sites internationally
• Perform mechanical assembly, alignment, adjustment and validation of machine components
• Carry out and verify electrical wiring, sensors, actuators and industrial I/O
• Install, connect and troubleshoot pneumatic components and circuits
• Start up and configure Beckhoff PLC and TwinCAT environments
• Control and validate basic machine I/Os, sensors, actuators and safety signals
• Use Isochronic’s internal software tools to install, configure and update machine software
• Perform functional tests and support integration with adjacent customer equipment
• Diagnose problems across mechanics, electrical systems, pneumatics, PLCs and software
• Work with the engineering team to resolve commissioning issues and feed field experience back into product improvements
• Document installation status, configuration, issues and corrective actions
• Support customer acceptance testing and handover of commissioned systems
• Represent Isochronic professionally and effectively at customer sites

• Technical education in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field
• Strong hands‑on experience with industrial machinery
• Ability to perform mechanical assembly and adjustments independently
• Practical understanding of industrial electrical wiring, sensors and I/O
• Practical knowledge of pneumatic systems
• Experience starting up and troubleshooting PLC‑controlled equipment
• Familiarity with Beckhoff / TwinCAT or a comparable industrial automation platform
• Ability to work with low‑level machine software and diagnose basic software/hardware interactions
• Structured troubleshooting skills across multiple technical disciplines
• High level of autonomy and accountability, particularly when working onsite
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally approximately 150 days per year

Because this is a customer‑facing international field role, language capability is essential:

• French: minimum C1
• German: minimum B2
• English: minimum B2

• Commissioning industrial robots or automated production equipment
• EtherCAT and Beckhoff I/O systems
• Servo drives and motion systems
• Industrial safety systems
• Machine installation and customer acceptance procedures
• Field service or technical customer support
• Experience commissioning equipment in the sheet‑metal, machine‑tool or factory‑automation industries

• Machines are installed and commissioned safely, efficiently and reliably
• You can independently diagnose most onsite problems across mechanics, electrical systems, pneumatics and basic software
• Customer installations reach production readiness with a clear and documented configuration
• Issues discovered in the field are communicated effectively to engineering and contribute to improving future machines
• Customers see you as a capable and trusted technical representative of Isochronic
