Job Summary
The Business Support Officer is responsible for delivering comprehensive business support services to clients, with a strong emphasis on post‑lending care and ongoing client success. This includes assisting clients with advisory and training needs, personal assessments, business planning, strategic planning, marketing, and financial management.
Major Accountabilities
Client Meeting Services & Post‑Lending Care (50%)

  • Meet with clients to determine and support their business needs throughout the business cycle.
  • Listen to and review business concepts, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Discuss options and solutions to clients’ concerns, including post‑lending operational challenges.
  • Provide advice and guidance to help clients meet milestones and maintain business stability.
  • Review worksheets, templates, and business documents with clients as required.
  • Provide referrals to additional business support organizations when beneficial.
  • Schedule follow‑up appointments to monitor progress and address emerging needs.
  • Deliver structured after‑care services for clients who have received loans or program funding, ensuring they remain supported in financial management, operations, and long‑term planning.

Business Planning Services & Financial Services (20%)

  • Conduct one‑on‑one follow‑up meetings with clients who have completed or are nearing completion of their business plans to ensure continued progress and stability.
  • Reinforce business plan criteria and help clients apply planning principles as their business operations evolve.
  • Provide updated examples, templates, and resource documents to support ongoing learning and post‑launch decision‑making.
  • Maintain a schedule of regular check‑ins to monitor progress, address challenges, and support clients through the early stages of implementation.
  • Assist clients in understanding, updating, and interpreting their financial statements as their business grows or changes.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers to ensure clients receive continued support with financial documentation, loan readiness, and referrals as needed.

Marketing, Facilitates Training Courses & Workshops (20%)

  • Support the promotion and visibility of pre and after‑care training opportunities, workshops, and refresher sessions to ensure clients remain engaged post‑program.
  • Register participants for after‑care workshops and manage fee collection when required.
  • Prepare training contract quotes and participate in discussions for fee‑for‑service after‑care training opportunities with partner organizations.
  • Develop and update training materials tailored to the evolving needs of clients in the after‑care phase, ensuring relevance and practical application.
  • Prepare manuals, guides, and supplemental resources that reinforce long‑term learning and support clients as they implement their business plan.
  • Research participants’ business operations and progress to personalize instruction and ensure after‑care training remains meaningful and targeted.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions that strengthen clients’ ongoing skills development and support the successful transfer of knowledge into real‑world practice.

Internal/External Communications
(5%)

  • Oversee the creation of high‑quality written, visual, and digital content that strengthens ongoing engagement with clients in the after‑care phase and keeps internal and external audiences informed about continued program impact.
