Collective Reflection Events & Marketing Lead - Social Issues Commission

Job DescriptionTime Commitment: 2-7 hours per week
The Social Issues Commission (SIC) seeks to facilitate dialogue, education, and engagement on all matters related to equity, identity, and anti-oppression. Collective Reflections is an annual publication that strives to represent the diversity of Queen's students through poetry, prose, visual art, and all other printable mediums. Its mission is to provide a forum for creative expression within the Queen's and Kingston communities on a variety of topics and vectors of identity.
Collective Reflections publishes submissions on, but not limited to, the following topics: disability and accessibility; racism and anti-racism; mental health/illness;
Queer issues; and feminism.
The Events and Marketing Lead coordinates outreach efforts and promotional strategies to increase engagement with Collective Reflections, and helps organize launch events, workshops, and submission drives to build community around the publication. CoRe Members will work alongside the Editor(s)-in-Chief to promote the publication, encourage student submissions, and curate the final publication.
Job Responsibilities:- Communicate regular updates to the Editor(s)-in-Chief regarding upcoming and potential events.
- Be familiar with and implement the mandate of Collective Reflections.
- In conjunction with the Editor(s)-in-Chief, create, plan, and coordinate promotional events for Collective Reflections, including but not limited to the volume launch event in the spring.
- Encourage submissions through in-person events.
- Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards.
- Attend and fully participate in all in-person and virtual meetings.
- Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively.
- Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all.
- Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement.
- Complete other job duties as assigned.
