Position: Analyst Or Associate Risk And Capital Solution )

Role Overview

As an analyst or associate in the Strategic Risk & Capital Solutions team within the Global Capital Market (GCM) team at National Bank of Canada Capital Markets, you will focus on risk & capital optimization solutions to manage risk, improve portfolio return and reduce cost of capital.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out detailed quantitative analysis, including cost analysis comparisons among various hedging tools.
  • Support the Vice‑President and Managing Director in execution, reporting and evaluation of the optimal portfolio mix.
  • Run sensitivity analyses and identify opportunities to manage limits and capital more efficiently.
  • Conduct portfolio risk assessments for single or portfolio transactions.
  • Develop and improve models to assess the cost and return of different hedging tools.
  • Prepare materials and presentations for internal stakeholders and insurers.
  • Participate in deal flow and execution of hedges using credit‑risk insurance.
  • Collaborate with back‑office and front‑office teams for trade execution and post‑execution management.
  • Produce risk reports and ad‑hoc analyses (e.g., run RAROC simulations, analyze cost‑benefit alternatives).
  • Support senior team members in deal execution and client/insurance coverage.
  • Interact with internal partners such as Credit Risk, Risk Analytical & Modelling, Operations, Back‑Office, Accounting, and Capital Group.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
  • At least 1‑3 years of corporate finance or risk management experience.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Proficiency in creating PowerPoint presentations and other written documents.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with time‑sensitive deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
