About the Role

The Mentorship Coordinator is a front-line role responsible for the day-to-day operations of the mentorship program, including mentor and mentee recruitment, onboarding, matching, monitoring, and support. Working closely with the Mentorship Manager, the Coordinator ensures that every learner receives the relational, culturally grounded, trauma-informed support they need to succeed in their program and beyond.

The ideal candidate brings experience in social work, education, or community support services, with demonstrated skills in facilitation, case management, and learner engagement. They are compassionate, organized, and committed to centering Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

Key Responsibilities

Trauma-Informed & Culturally Grounded Practice

  • Apply trauma-informed principles in all interactions with learners, mentors, and partners
  • Provide direct one-on-one support to mentees navigating personal, professional, or technical challenges
  • Identify learners requiring additional support and elevate through appropriate channels (Mentee Situation Log, weekly status meetings)
  • Maintain a participant-centred approach that respects learner dignity, autonomy, and self-determination

Mentor & Mentee Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Enhance and oversee the implementation of an ongoing mentor recruitment plan, including annual and quarterly activity plans
  • Develop and distribute program marketing materials and presentations to targeted organizations
  • Ensure timely response and support to mentor and mentee inquiries and concerns
  • Implement program policies and procedures for mentor and mentee screening, ensuring safety and confidentiality

Mentor & Mentee Monitoring and Support

  • Supervise the participation of mentors and mentees in the mentoring program
  • Manage the planning and implementation of mentor and mentee group events and activities
  • Implement retention strategies and recognition activities for program participants
  • Conduct regular check-ins with mentors and mentees and make referrals to other IFA programming and wrap-around services
