We are currently seeking an Apprentice Textile Machinery Mechanic – Circular Knitting Machines to join the team at Les Tricots Primotex Knitting Inc., located at 5600 Ernest-Cormier Street, Laval, Quebec H7C 2T5.

Job Description:

As an Apprentice Textile Machinery Mechanic, you will participate in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and servicing of circular knitting machines and related equipment under the supervision of experienced mechanics.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Performing preventive maintenance, inspections, technical cleaning, lubrication, and basic adjustments under supervision;
• Participating in the inspection of circular knitting machines and related equipment, including checking the condition of bearings, belts, gears, transmissions, motors, and drive systems;
• Performing tension checks and basic adjustments, identifying signs of wear or potential failure, and reporting them;
• Participating in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical problems;
• Disassembling, replacing, reassembling, and aligning worn or defective components according to your level of competency, and assisting with more complex repairs under supervision;
• Participating in the calibration and adjustment of machinery, conducting tests following repairs, and verifying stable and safe operation before the equipment is returned to production;
• Assisting with adjustments required to maintain the relationship between mechanical settings and knitted fabric quality;
• Participating in a structured training and apprenticeship program, including internal training modules, observation of experienced mechanics, and supervised hands‑on practice;
• Maintaining a training log and documenting maintenance activities, diagnostics, repairs, adjustments, and recurring equipment failures;
• Consulting technical manuals, diagrams, and specifications, identifying compatible parts, and assisting with the inventory of critical spare parts and the preparation of maintenance interventions.

Working Hours and Wage:

This is a full‑time position requiring 40 hours of work per week, 8 hours per day.

The hourly wage is $36.50 per hour.

French or English is required.

High School Diploma – Completed

Experience

Required:

A minimum of 12 months of relevant experience in a textile, mechanical, or industrial environment is required.
