Position Overview
KU Transportation Services is responsible for managing and enforcing parking regulations on the University campus. This role involves monitoring parking areas, issuing citations, providing assistance to community members and visitors, and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic within the campus parking system.

60% - Parking Enforcement/Field Operations:
- Patrol university parking lots and structures to enforce parking regulations.
- Issue citations for parking violations and record relevant information.
- Assist university community members with parking-related inquiries and concerns.
- Maintain effective communication with dispatch using a two-way radio.
- Relieve Information Booth staff for breaks and possibly cover booth duties if short‑staffed.
- Train new student employee officers.
- Utilize parking management software and technology for citation issuance, permit management, and record‑keeping.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of parking‑related technology solutions.
- Prepare for and work all special events, including football games, basketball games, commencement ceremonies, and dorm move‑ins.
- Install temporary signage and barricades as directed to facilitate event coordination.
- Collaborate with campus security, facilities management, and other relevant departments to address parking‑related issues.
- Report all instances of stolen or damaged signage to the supervisor and ensure prompt replacement.
- Maintain handheld ticket writers, printers, and radios to prevent damage.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in departmental vehicles; promptly report damage or mechanical issues.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of gate and pay‑on‑foot equipment as needed.
- Collect funds from pay‑on‑foot machines upon request.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
