Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) – Hybrid Outreach/Clinic
Chief Dental Officer, Full‑Time Exempt (Contract/Salaried: $69,600 – $97,000)

As an RDH with Heartland Community Health Center’s Healthy Futures Mobile Dental Program, you will provide preventive dental care—including cleanings, sealants, X‑rays, and assessments—to children in schools and community settings. This hybrid position involves both outreach work and in‑clinic patient care, supporting integrated care delivery and expanding access to services.

• Preventative and rehabilitative caries control and periodontal services:
  • Routine prophylaxis and topical application
  • Apply SDF and ART technique as needed
  • Scale and root planing; remove overhangs of filling materials
  • Expose, process, and mount oral radiographs; polish restorations
  • Use local anesthetic as needed
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and dental care team roles
  • Clean and sterilize instruments; follow infection‑control protocols
  • Complete daily, monthly, and annual equipment maintenance
  • Wear appropriate PPE; dispose of bio‑hazard waste
  • Answer patient inquiries about pain and medications
  • Perform all duties in accordance with OSHA regulations
• Attend required meetings and complete trainings promptly.
• Chart patient records accurately, including caries, restoration, periodontal, head‑and‑neck exam, and radiographs.
• Educate patients and guardians on oral health maintenance, fluoride benefits, and diet.
• Receive professional training, act as a leader in clinic and community integration.
• Participate in medical/dental integration, empower medical teams, and coordinate safe hand‑offs.
• Aim to treat at least 1 patient per hour in clinic and 2 patients per hour in community settings.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited RDH program.
• Current Kansas RDH license.
• Minimum one year of experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Sensitivity to the social and cultural needs of diverse populations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Calm and exercise sound judgment in emergencies.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and standard office equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities.

• Customer‑service orientation and ability to educate patients and community.
• Accurate electronic health record documentation.

• Hours:
  
  Monday to Friday, approximately 8 am – 7 pm; shift lengths ~8 hrs.
