Summary: The Integrated Registered Dental Hygienist focuses on integrated dental preventative and hygiene services with other health care professionals involved in the patient’s care management. They are responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients of Hunter Health Clinic under general supervision of a dentist and using established dental hygiene procedures. The Dental Hygienist provides quality dental care to all Hunter Health Clinic patients while maintaining compliance with all federal grants, OSHA, Dental Board, and Hunter Health Clinic policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Provides independent patient care and dental services, assesses dental condition and needs of patient using approved patient screening procedures, including medical history review, dental charting, and periodontal charting.
- Integrates dental preventative and hygiene services with other health care professionals involved in the patient’s care management.
- Maintains clinical records in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assists with emergency measures for adverse developments during treatments.
- Organizes and performs preventative oral health presentations at on-site and off-site locations as assigned.
- Travels when necessary to meet operational needs, including satellite clinic locations and local schools.
- Performs tasks to achieve organizational and departmental goals and objectives.
- Assists in training dental assistants and other dental staff.
- Assist with the development of HHC and community dental hygiene outreach and education program.
- Attends dental hygiene continuing education to ensure continued learning (dental-related college courses, workshops, etc.) and provides information to department leaders.
- Treats required number of encounters and users as designated.
- Assists with various clinical and administrative functions as directed by leadership.

Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of dental hygiene is required.
- Current license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of Kansas, while obtaining continuing education hours to maintain active licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, within 30 days of hire.
- ECP-III is required, within 90 days of hire.
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
- Experience in school outreach preferred.
