The Technical Director position will have 10+ years of experience in drawing and construction document production and contract administration. This position will work with Project Managers, Project Architects and Designers in the office to ensure the constructability and legibility of our documents, assist with document production as well as instituting best practices in contract and administration.
We intentionally work on projects at a variety of scales, and you will be asked to contribute expertise in projects ranging in size from single family residences to civic scale master planning.
You will be an integral leader and team member on every project in the office. Communication with client groups will be minimal, but communication and collaboration between internal and external team members will be crucial. You will work closely with Principals, Project Managers, Project Architects, designers, consultants and contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide expert input from concept to completion, ensuring design quality, innovation, and adherence to client goals.
- Review and approve designs, specifications, materials, and building systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop architectural teams, fostering collaboration, creativity, and professional growth.
- Organize project timelines, allocate resources, manage budgets, and oversee the production of deliverables.
- Build strong client relationships, support business development, and ensure commercial performance of projects.
- Champion the use of digital tools, BIM, and cutting-edge workflows to improve design outcomes and productivity.
- Keep the Principals informed on the status of the project.
- Attend design meetings, as necessary.
- Licensed architect is preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of experience.
- Excellent technical and design skills.
- Excellent understanding of all appropriate codes.
- Ability to develop and deliver technically sound project documents.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of architectural theory, design principles, construction methods and regulatory requirements.
- The willingness to work as a team member and assist other studios as necessary; the ability and desire to mentor young design professionals.
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Lumion, Sketch Up and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Must be able and willing to travel outside of the local area to attend meetings at various sites, as needed.
- High levels of activity and productivity.
- Ability to clearly convey information and ideas verbally and graphically.
- The ability to quickly grasp new concepts.
- The desire and drive to keep current in job specialty through continuing education.
