Assistant Professor of Chemistry

The Department of Science and Mathematics at Judson University seeks applications from individuals to fill a full-time assistant professor position in Chemistry starting AY. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry. The prospective candidate will be comfortable engaging an irenic dialogue between scientific disciplines and theological perspectives including creation science, intelligent design, and theistic evolution.

• Give lectures and/or active learning work during class times as appropriate to the course goals. Each course comes with a laboratory component for which the instructor is responsible.
• Prepare lessons, select homework assignments as necessary, and create tests and quizzes over the appropriate textbook sections.
• Respond to student questions (often via email) and evaluate student work.
• The position includes teaching introductory and upper-level undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry courses including organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and physical chemistry.
• Candidates with the potential to develop and sustain a research program that would involve undergraduates will receive special consideration.
• The duties of the position also include student advising and participation in department and university governance.
• In conjunction with Lab Administrator, maintain laboratory environment, supplies, and equipment. Plan for replacement and updating of equipment on an ongoing basis.

Required qualifications:

• Hold an earned master’s degree, doctorate preferred, in Biochemistry or Chemistry
• Demonstrate an active and growing Christian faith
• Share a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community
• Possess collaborative skills to work with colleagues across the Science and Mathematics Department and throughout the university.

$45,000 – $65,000 Rank and salary based on qualifications, education, and work experience.
