Overview

Indigenous Studies invites qualified scholars and professionals to apply for part- to full-time Lecturer positions to teach one or more courses in the Indigenous Studies Program. Application materials will be reviewed with attention to the program’s instructional needs. The successful candidate must have authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. All lecturer positions are dependent upon funding.

  • Prepare for and attend all class meetings. In case of absence, the lecturer must make arrangements for a substitute to teach class. Classes should not be canceled.
  • Provide instruction throughout the semester, usually 2.5 hours/week, one day a week.
  • Develop assignments, administer tests, evaluate student work, provide feedback to students, and assign grades.
  • Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught.
  • Adhere to program, College, and university policies.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Indigenous studies or a related field in the humanities, arts, education, public administration, social sciences or natural sciences, or a J.D. from an accredited law school OR Master’s degree in the aforementioned field and seven years of professional experience as a practitioner in the profession.
  • Record of research, scholarship, or achievement in Indigenous studies or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in a related discipline.
  • More than five (5) years of previous professional experience working in or with Indigenous/Native tribal agencies or U.S. government agencies or nonprofit organizations liaising with tribes.
  • Prior experience in teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level.
  • Relevant scholarly publications.
